Bogra college students put up road blockade
The students of Bogra Azizul Haq College yesterday morning put up a road blockade in front of the new building of the college for about half an hour protesting an incident of beating several students and helper of the college bus by the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
The Rab-12 members allegedly beat them up for what they said ignoring a signal for searching the vehicle.
Principal Salamat Ullah said the college authorities have sent a written complaint to the commander of the Rab-12 camp, Major Mostafa Azad Iqbal for action against the offender.
Contacted, Rab-12 deputy assistant director (DAD) Abdus Salam who is responsible for the incident admitted to have beaten up the helper of the bus for not stopping the bus for search operation. However, he denied beating up of any college student.
Police officials also held a meeting with the college authorities after the incident at about 9:30 am yesterday. Police officials termed the overall situation 'normal'.
