Train service between Chandpur and the rest of the country remain suspended since yesterday as three oil wagons skidded off tracks at the rail gate near Chandpur station in the morning. The train carrying 26 oil tankers was going to Chandpur from Chittagong, reports our Chandpur correspondent. Witnesses said a wagon ran off the tracks at 10:40am when it reached the outer signal area near the station. Two other wagons also veered off in a few seconds. Chandpur Railway Station master Golam Mostafa said it may take two days to restore the rail links. He also said the authorities will form a probe committee to investigate the incident. Our district correspondent reports: a passenger train derailed near Chapainawabganj Railway Station Saturday morning, suspending rail links between the district headquarters and other areas. No casualties were reported. Locals and officials at the station said a coach of the Rajshahi-bound train came off the tracks around 10:05am at Alinagar, some 300 yards away from the station. Though it was not clear what caused the derailment, the officials initially blamed it on faulty railway tracks, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent. Rail communications on Chapainawabganj-Rohanpur and Rohanpur-Rajshahi routes remain snapped since the accident. Chapainawabganj Railway Station Master Mohammad Moniruzzaman said the mechanics from Amnura Railway junction rushed in but couldn't salvage the compartment. Then mechanics from Ishwardy were asked to rush to the spot last evening.
