FF hacked to death
A freedom fighter (FF) was hacked to death on Wednesday night near Lal Hospital at Khalishpur of Khulna city.
The victim was identified as Altaf Hossain,60, son of Anwar Hossain Molla of Khalishpur Housing Estate.
Altaf was a retired jawan of Bangladesh Army.
According to police, a gang of criminals attacked Altaf with a knife while he was on the way to his residence at 10:30 pm from Khalishpur Muktijoddha Command office.
He succumbed to his injuries at 1:45 am yesterday while under treatment at Khulna Medical College and Hospital, said Abu Mokaddem, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur police station.
The OC quoted wife of the deceased Jahanara Begum as saying that the murder was a sequel to a long-standing dispute over land property with one of the attackers.
Jahanara lodged an FIR with Khalishpur police station at 3:00 pm yesterday accusing three people and unidentified others of murdering her husband.
