Two militants of Allar Dal held in Gaibandha

Sadullapur police in a drive early yesterday arrested two suspected militants of banned Islamist outfit Allar Dal from village Kismat Bagchi under Sadullapur upazila. Police said, on Wednesday night some unknown faces joined a religious gathering at the house of one Mukul Mandol. People came to know that a motivational session of Allar Dal is being held to expand its activities in the area. Being suspicious, the villagers encircled the house. Former BDR personnel Moslem Ali said as he raised protest against the militant activities, the organiser group of Allar Dal beat him up, injuring him seriously. Being informed, a team from Sadullapur police station rushed to the spot. Sensing police presence, the unknown faces who came to attend the meeting for training fled away through the back door. Police raided the house and arrested Mukul Mandol,43, and Hazat Ali, 26, from the spot. Police suspect that the arrestees are close associates of Allar Dal kingpin Matin Mehdi who was sentenced to death by a court for his involvement in militant activities. The arrestees will be taken on police remand for further interrogation, said Abu Md Delwar Hasan Inam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadullapur police station. The injured BDR personnel was sent to Sadullapur health complex for treatment.
