<i>Students sued for stalking teacher</i>

Four students of Lalmonirhat Government College were sued on Tuesday night on charge of stalking a teacher of the college on May 22. Principal Mohammad Abdul Bari filed the case with Sadar Police Station against the students after they were found guilty of stalking the teacher in a probe report submitted to him in the morning. The accused are Nahid Morshed, Sakib Raihan, Shafiqul Islam and Zahid Hasan. They all are appearing in the ongoing HSC examinees from the college. Principal Bari said the college authorities will take departmental actions against the four after completing their practical examinations. The students stalked Hosne Lotifa, lecturer of political science department, on the college campus on May 22. They assaulted Zakir Hossain, assistant professor of physics department of the college, as he protested the incident. They unruly students also confined Prof Zakir Hossain to a room. On information, police went to the campus and set him free. Immediately after the incidents, the college authorities formed a four-member investigation committee headed by S M Shah Alam, assistant prof of Islamic history department. Teachers of the college also observed work abstention for two days (Sunday and Monday) protesting stalking and demanding safety of the teachers. Contacted, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police said the law enforcers are looking for the stalkers.
