Mohiuddin, Monju busy wooing voters

Both the Awami League and BNP backed mayoral candidates are busy exchanging views and greetings with the voters ahead of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) election scheduled for June 17. AL-backed Mayoral candidate ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury exchanged views and greetings with voters at his Chasma Hill residence yesterday morning. Mohiuddin, a candidate from Nagorik Committee, also held similar meeting with the committee's ward units at Pashchim (west) Madarbari Misripukurpar and Pathantuli in the evening. BNP-backed and Chattagram Unnayan Andolon mayoral candidate Mohammad Manjur Alam Manju met some elderly and influential people at his North Kattoli residence in the morning. He held view exchange meetings with Unnayan Andolon ward committees at Bandortila Mazarbari in the afternoon and at Chandgaon in the evening. Leaders and activists of ward BNP and local people were also present in the meetings. Mohiuddin and Manju have also started communicating with the partners of the grand alliance and the four-party alliance to get their support. AL Chittagong city unit and Nagorik Committee leaders are now trying to get support for Mohiuddin Chowdhury from two grand alliance partners---LDP and Jatiya Party (Ershad). They are communicating with LDP backed mayoral candidate Wahed Asgor Chowdhury and JP backed candidate Solaiman Alam Sheth in this regard, said the party insiders. On the other hand, BNP backed candidate Manjur Alam is communicating with Islamist organisations in Chittagong. BNP central leadership is also communicating with Jamaat and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJPAndalib) leaders to get their support for Manjur Alam in the CCC election.
