BNP leader murdered in Pirojpur
A BNP leader was murdered by criminals at Kalaron village in Zianagar upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Manik Majhi, 40, BNP body member in Zianagar upazila.
Police and locals said the incident occurred between 12:00am and 4:30pm while the victim's wife Sheuli Begum was sleeping in another room in the house.
Zianagar police said the criminals entered the house and chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
They recovered the beheaded body from Manik's bedroom at 7:30am. The body also bore several marks of injuries in the hands, chest and abdomen.
The body was sent to Pirojpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A murder case was filed with Pirojpur police station in this connection.
