Signature campaign for Tarique
BNP has started a mass signature campaign in the district demanding withdrawal of cases against the party's senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, his return to country and trial of those who "tortured" him.
BNP senior joint secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the progarmme at Tito auditorium in the town yesterday noon. Party sources said, about 5,000 signatures have been collected till 4:30 pm.
Bogra district BNP president advocate Mahbubur Rahman presided over the programme while BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman was the chief guest. Former state minister for power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku was the special guest.
BNP leaders Harunur Rashid, Hafizar Rahman MP, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie MP and local leaders were present.
