<i>Musa's native villagers share the glory</i>

Everest conqueror Musa Ibrahim's cousin Arifa Akhter shows a newspaper report on the astounding feat to the relatives and neighbours at Musa's native village Gandhomaruya Basintari in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

Relatives and other villagers felt elated as the news of conquering Mount Everest by Musa Ibrahim, a native of Gandhomaruya Basintari village in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat district, reached the area on Monday noon.
Reading the report in newspapers, they engaged in lively talks and distributed sweetmeat to celebrate the occasion.
As the news spread, people from different villages started coming to Musa's village.
Mountaineer Musa Ibrahim's grandmother Nabiron Nesa now spends a good amount of time sitting on the bank of the pond beside the home, praying and waiting for his safe return.
“When my grandson Musa came to the village, he took bath in this pond. My Musa will come soon to bath in this pond again,” said Nabiron.
"Musa liked to tell stories about mountains to the relatives and villagers, when he came to the village. Musa's grand success brings glory not only for him and his family members, but the whole nation,” said Musa's uncle Anwar Hossain.
Arifa Akhter Akhi, a cousin of Musa, said, "Musa has not come to his native village for long. Now we hope to see his bright face soon."
Isahak Ali, 80, Motaleb Hossain, 65, Abdul Quddus, 48, Fatema Begum, 45, and quite a few others at Gandhomaruya Basintari village said they feel immense joy and pride at Musa's achievement.
Several people said they are now praying for Musa's safe return to share the glory and joy of great event.
Mountaineer Musa Ibrahim is the son of Ansar Ali, the eldest son of late Shafi Uddin Sarker of Gandhomaruya Basintari village.
Musa was born in this village, but after his birth he went to Thakurgoan as his father was a service holder at Thakurgaon Sugar Mill.
Musa spent his childhood and received early education at Thakurgoan. He came to his native village with his parents very often, said relatives and villagers.
Not only the people of Lalmonirhat, the whole nation is proud of Musa's feat, said Abdur Rob Suzon, the district correspondent of daily Prothom Alo.
Lalmonirhat district administration will give mass reception to Musa Ibrahim when he returns to his native village, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ala Uddin Fakir said.
