Introduce provincial government system
Ershad repeats call
Jatiya Party Chairman and former president Hossain Mohammad Ershad on Wednesday again called for introduction of provincial government system in the country.
"There is no alternative to provincial government to remove the existing mismanagement in the administrative system," he said while addressing a meeting at a hotel in Sylhet city in the afternoon.
Ershad said decentralisation of power by creating eight provinces in the country is a must to strengthen the local bodies and ensure good governance.
He urged all political parties to come forward to establish provincial government system in the country.
Organised by Pradeshik Baybostha Bastobayon samannoy Committee, the meeting was also addressed by Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, JP leaders Ruhul Amin Hawlader and Mostafa Jamal Haider and committee's regional chief Atiqur Ranman Atiq.
The JP chairman later joined a party meeting at local circuit house.
