Outlaws held after gunfight
Two underground operatives of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajudhho) were arrested after gunfight with police in Chatmohar upazila of the district yesterday.
The incident took place at Kuabashi-Chakmarom village of the upazila at around 3:00pm. The arrestees are Md Moksed Ali, 35, son of Md Mofiz Uddin of Chakmoram-Kuabashi village, and Md Johir Udin, 32, son of Billal Hossain of Jatrbari under Ataikula upazila.
The outlaws received bullet injuries during the gunfight and were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Police recovered firearms and ammunition from the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Chatmohar Police Station Md Shahid Alam said police raided the house of Jharu Mondol where PBCP cadres were holding a secret meeting. Sensing the presence of the policemen, the outlaws opened fire, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate.
Moksed and Jahir Uddin received bullet injuries during the gunfight that continued for half an hour and later arrested by the law enforcers while the rest managed to flee, he said.
Police said both were wanted in several cases filed with Chatmohar Police Station.
