Robbery in Bagerhat
Robbers early Monday looted the house of Haji Syed Ali Matubbar, former chairman of Baloibunia union under Morelganj upazila.
An armed gang of 15 broke open the collapsible gate of the house on the first floor at about 2am and took the members of house hostage at gunpoint.
Three members of the family were injured as they tried to resist the robbers.
They are Syed Ali Matubaar, 75, himself, his wife Sakhina Bibi, 65, and their son Golam Quddus, 42.
Golam Quddus Matubbar filed a case yesterday with Morelganj police station.
Morelganj police with the help of Perojpur district police yesterday morning recovered the looted gun, two bullets and some bomb making materials from a garden belonging to Subrata Kumar Biswas of Rekhakhali village under Zianagar upazila in Perojpur.
UNB from Savar reports: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive yesterday arrested four robbers along with arms at Dhalchar in Tetuljhura union.
The arrestees are Jaidhar alias Badsha Miah, 32, Atiqur Rahman, 22, Mainal Haque alias Rafiq, 36, and Khairul Islam, 33.
Rab sources said, acting on secret information, a team of elite force conducted operation in the area and arrested the robbers along with two revolvers, four bullets and a lethal weapon.
