Boiler blast kills one

A day labourer was killed and another two were injured critically as a boiler exploded at Bachchu Khan's rice mills in Bosundhara area in the town yesterday morning. Victim Mazibar Rahman,42, was son of late Taher Ali of Dalal Tari in the town. Injured Asadul Islam,40, and Belal Hossain,35, are fighting for life at Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. Locals said, three labourers were boiling paddy and turmeric at the mills since dawn. The boiler exploded at around 11:00 am killing Mazibar on the spot. Locals alleged that the boiler exploded as it was set up in an unplanned way with low quality materials. The death of Mazibar upset his mother Zohura Bewa, wife Rozina Khatun and two children Rezaul, and Mim, as the victim was the lone bread earner, they said. Meanwhile, the mill owner neither visited the spot nor met Mazibar's family after the incident, locals said.
