Lightning kills 4 in Bagerhat
Lightning killed four people including three women in Rampal and Kachua upazilas under Bagerhat on Sunday.
The dead were identified as Fatema Begum, 32, of Maniknagar village, Kulsum Begum, 22, of Kumlai Kadamtola village, Rabeya Begum, 33, of Chakshi village - all three under Rampal upazila- and Yunus Hazra, 60, of Tengrakhali village under Kachua upazila.
Rampal police station officer-in-charge (OC) Ram Prasad Bhakta said, three women were killed by lightning in the upazila during storm on Sunday evening.
Kachua police station sub-inspector Sunil Kumar Dutta said, farmer Yunus Hazra was killed as lightning struck him while he was cutting grass in the field Sunday afternoon. He died on the spot.
Our Correspondent in Chapainawabgnaj reports: A man was killed and four others were injured by lightning at Bakherali village under Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.
The dead was identified Ershad Ali, 25, son of Abdul Qaium of Bkherali village under Sadar upazila in the district.
Locals identified the injured as Ershad's brother Abdul Bari, 30, his sister Rehana Khatun, 25, cousin Nazma Khatun, 20, and sister-in-law Merina Khatun, 26, of the same village.
