Top outlaw held, arms seized
Rab arrested a 'regional leader' of outlawed Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party from Mridhar More (intersection) area under Chhilar Char union of Sadar upazila yesterday and recovered arms from his possession.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Rab-8 from Madaripur camp arrested Ahsan Bepari, 40, and recovered a sawn off rifle, 2 bullets and 2 machetes from his house following his confession.
Ahsan is accused in several cases of murder, rape, extortion and robbery, Rab said. He is a son of Sadek Bepari of the area.
Our Correspondent in Pabna adds: A cadre of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddha) faction was found dead at Shibpur in Atgharia upazila yesterday morning.
He was identified as Mohammad Selim, 28, son of Md Abdul Alim of Madhupur village in Pabna Sadar upazila.
Quoting locals police said Selim died in a bomb blast near Shibpur Madrasa.
