Jubo League leader faces rape charge
A rape case was filed against a top Jubo League leader of Tangail district on Saturday.
A field worker, 28, of a reputed NGO filed the case with Tangail sadar police station against Robi Khan, 45, a vice-president of Tangail district unit Jubo League.
The plaintiff alleged that the Jubo League leader on March 25 met her on the way when she was returning from Bhatkura area under Sadar upazila.
He took her to a room of his brick field in Taratia area by his motorbike on the plea that he will drop her at her office.
But he raped her there, the victim alleged adding that she could not file case just after the incident as the culprit's men held her back.
Contacted officer-in-charge of Tangail police station Jasimuddin Sarkar told the correspondent that the medical test of the victim has already been done.
"The accused has gone into hiding since filing of the case and police are looking for him at different places," he added.
