Transport workers clash
At least 20 people were injured in a clash yesterday at Telipara village on Panchagarh -Dhaka highway in front of Panchagarh truck terminal between two rival groups of transport workers.
Following the clash, vehicle stopped playing Panchagarh-Dhaka road for four hours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Police and locals said at about 10:00 am when the supporters of Panchagarh District Transport Workers' Association, went to the truck terminal area to establish their supremacy, the supporters of District Truck, Truck lorry and Covered Van Workers' Association told them to leave the place.
At one stage they engaged in a fierce clash leaving 20 people from both sides injured.
On information Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
But the workers of both sides took position with sticks, iron rods beside the road.
After the officer in charge of Panchagarh police station assured them of peace talks on Sunday at Deputy Commissioner's conference room they removed barricade from the road.
