Two schoolgirls abducted from Jhalakathi, Kushtia rescued
Police have rescued two schoolgirls abducted from Jhalakathi and Kushtia and a youngman kidnapped from Pabna and arrested four people in connection with the incidents.
Police rescued a kidnapped girl after seven days of her abduction from Jhalakathi and arrested an alleged abductor from Mohammadpur village in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna district on Friday night.
The rescued teenage girl is daughter of Fakhruddin of Pajipuharipara village in Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Police and family sources said, victim's relative Mizanur Rahman, son of Abdus Sattar of Bagerhat district, wanted to marry the girl but her parents rejected the proposal.
On February 19, Mizanur, his mother Golenur Begum and some others kidnapped the girl from her house and took her to the house of one Kamal Khan at Mohammadpur village.
Following a tip-off, police raided the house of Kamal and rescued the girl. The law-enforcers also arrested Golenur in this connection.
Our correspondent in Kushtia reports: Jhenidah police on Wednesday rescued a schoolgirl who was abducted by a gang from Kushtia eight days ago.
Police also arrested an alleged member of the gang.
According to police, a gang led by one Nader Ali, 26, son of Mahar Ali of Haout in Mirpur upazila abducted a daughter of Ashraful Islam of the same village when she was returning home from school in the afternoon.
A student of class nine at Bahalbaria Girls School, the gang took the girl to one Mujibar's house at Baouli village in Mohespur upazila in Jhenidah.
A case was filed with Mirpur police station on March 18.
On a tip-off, a joint team from Mirpur and Mohespur police stations raided the house at about 7:30pm rescued the girl and arrested Nader Ali from the spot.
In Pabna, Chatmohar police rescued an abducted youngman and arrested two alleged kidnappers from a remote village in Gurudaspur upazila under Natore district on Tuesday afternoon, eight days after his abduction.
Police said Shakhawat Hossain, 32, son of Abdus Samad of village Bollotpur in Handial of Chatmohar upazila under the district was abducted on March 15. The kidnappers later demanded ransom from the victim's family.
The family paid Tk 30 thousand to the kidnappers on March 17 but the gang did not release Shakhawat. They demanded Tk 1 lakh and the victim's father managed the amount and sought police help. Earlier, the victim's family filed a case with Chatmohar police station on March 21.
The family members went to Chiklapara village on Tuesday while Chatmohar police followed them.
When one of the kidnappers, Tafiz Mollah, 45, came to take the money police caught him red-handed.
After interrogation, police raided his residence and rescued Shakhawat in the afternoon.
Police also arrested his accomplice Morsheda Begum, 30, wife of Majid Fakir from the village.
