Hearing on remand for 3 Jamaat-Shibir leaders deferred

A Rajshahi court yesterday deferred the date of hearing on prayers, seeking remand for three top local Jamaat-Shibir leaders to March 25. Police on Thursday sought a 10-day remand for Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Ataur Rahman and General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and an eight-day remand for Shibir Rajshahi University Habibur Rahman Hall unit President Reazul Islam. The Metropolitan Magistrate's Court fixed March 25 for hearing on the remand prayers as Shibir leader Reazul was sick, court officials said. Police said they need to interrogate the Jamaat-Shibir leaders at task force interrogation cell (TFIC) in Dhaka for determining the role of central Jamaat leaders in February 9 violence at Rajshahi University.
