Allotment of 1.5 acres of khas land to each of 19 insolvent freedom fighters at Char Samad in Dasmina upazila has remained only in papers for the last 10 years as the total 28.5 acres of khas land allotted by Patuakhali district administration is under about 10 feet water. According to existing rule cultivable land should be allotted in such cases. Following instructions from higher authorities, Patuakhali district administration issued allotment papers for a total of 28.5 acres of land to the 19 freedom fighters of Dasmina upazila in 2000-2001 fiscal year, said the freedom fighters. The allotment papers have remained virtually useless for the freedom fighters as the land is under water. We earlier submitted several prayers to the higher authorities concerned to pay attention to the matter but to no effect," said Abdul Mannan (Birpratik). When contacted, Dasmina Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ajmol Hossain said, "I was not here when the allotment was given. I heard the matter.
