9 get life for murder
Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court-3 on Tuesday sentenced nine people to life imprisonment for killing a man named Ibrahim Hossain, 60, in Dhunat upazila in 2007.
The convicts are Shamim, 30, his brother Rafiqul, 30, Shahin, 32, Chan Miah, 36, Mozam, 45, Hobi, 35, Hazrat Ali, 40, Alauddin, 40 and Sona Faquir, 25. The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, they are to suffer another year in jail.
According to prosecution, the nine beat Ibrahim dead Ibrahim at Bhutbari village under Dhunat upazila on March 14, 2007 as a sequel to dispute over the ownership of a land. Ibrahim's wife filed a case with Dhunat Police Station the same day against 13 people.
