Jessore AL factions blame each other for killing BCL leader
Two rival factions of Jessore Awami League blamed each other for killing BCL leader Ripon Hossain Dada.
In a meeting at Jessore press club on Tuesday morning, lawmaker Khalidur Rahman Tito claimed that it was a planed murder. He alleged that Ripon Hossain Dada was loyal to Awami League district unit President Ali Reza Raju.
Ripon was killed by a gang backed by Shaheen Chaklader, sadar upazila chairman and also the general secretary of district Awami League, Tito claimed.
He alleged that some local AL leaders are trying to tarnish his image as he is always vocal against corruption and crime. He held them responsible for Saturday night's incident.
Former general secretary of district Awami League Sharif Abdur Rakib and public prosecutor AZM Firoz were present at the meeting.
Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shaheen Chaklader held a press conference at the district Awami League office the same day. He alleged that the supporters of Tito attacked the BCL council as he failed to form a pocket committee of BCL district unit. He said Tito and his supporters killed Ripon. Mahamud Hasan Bipu, acting general secretary of district BCL, was present at the press conference.
Ripon Hossain Dada, 32, BCL Jessore Sadar upazila unit convener, was hacked to death at Bhekutia Bazar on the outskirts of the town on Sunday evening.
