Criminals on Saturday night exploded bombs at the house of former BNP vice president Jewel Member at Sadipur. Villagers said a gang broke open the gate of the local BNP leader's house at night. As the members of the house raised a hue and cry the criminals exploded bombs. Hearing the sound of the bomb blasts neighbours rushed to the spot. The gang also fired at them while fleeing away. Earlier last month another gang hurled bombs and opened gunshots at the motorbike of Jewel Member's younger brother and local Jubo Dal vice president Nasimul Gani Boltu as they reached Baro Achra on their way home. Both survived the attack but the bike was destroyed in fire. Two separate cases have been filed with Benapole Port police station in connection with the two attacks. In Munshiganj, at least 10 people were injured in a factional clash of local BNP activists at Dakkhin Islampur in the district town on Friday night, reports UNB. Locals said two groups of activists - one led by M Hamid, vice-president of BNP ward no 8 unit and another by general secretary Tayeb Ali - locked in an altercation over a trifling matter in the evening. Later, the feuding groups equipped with lethal weapons and sticks attacked each other leaving 10 people from both sides injured . Two of the injured were admitted to Munshiganj General Hospital while others were given first aid.
