4-year-old girl burnt alive, houses gutted
A four-year-old girl was burnt alive and five houses were gutted in separate incidents of fire in Madarganj and Melandaha upazilas of the district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jeli, daughter of Jahangir of Charpakerdah village under Madarganj upazila.
Locals said the fire originated from the house of Jahangir at 4:00pm and soon engulfed the adjoining house. Jeli was asleep inside the house during the incident.
In Melandaha, three houses were gutted in a fire at Sindua Fasal village the same day.
Locals said the fire broke out at the house of freedom fighter Abul Kalam Azad and soon spread to three adjacent houses.
