Housewife murdered for dowry
A newly wed woman was killed allegedly for dowry at Nalka village in Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj district yesterday.
The victim was identified as Aklima Khatun, 20.
Police and victim's family sources said that Aklima Khatun, daughter of Hossain Ali of Nurnagor village of the same upazila was married to Sanower Hossain, 25, son of Azizal Haque of Nalka village about two months ago.
During the marriage, Aklima's father Hossain Ali paid a good amount of dowry and promised to pay more within a few days of the marriage.
Sources said, Sanower often pressed Aklima to bring the rest amount from his father-in-law's house. Sanower also used to torture her over the issue.
On the fateful day, Sanower locked in a quarrel with Akhlima over the matter and at one stage he beat her dead.
