300 houses gutted in Dinajpur, Panchagarh
Fire incidents on Monday and Tuesday in Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Moulvibazar districts destroyed at least 300 houses and half a dozen shops.
Our Correspondent in Dinajpur reports: At least 50 houses were gutted in two separate fire incidents in Khansama and Biral upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
Victims said a fire originated from the kitchen of one Mononrajan Roy at Managerpara under Khansama at 2:30 pm on Tuesday and spread quickly burning down at least 40 houses of 10 families.
Firemen went to the spot after about an hour and doused the fire.
Victim claim that the fire damaged property worth Tk. 15 lakh.
Another fire at a slam at Baznahar village under Biral upazila destroyed at least 10 houses damaging property worth Tk 5 lakh.
The fire originated from a kitchen.
Our Correspondent in Thakurgaon reports: At least 250 houses were gutted in separate incidents of fire on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning at Dohapara, Amlarhar and Baradap village under Atwary upazila in Panchagarh.
The affected people claimed that the fire damaged their property over Tk. 1 crore.
At least 225 houses were gutted in a devastating fire on Monday afternoon at Dohapara village.
The fire originated from the kitchen of Noimuddin house and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.
On information, fire fighters from Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Tentulia rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after five hours of frantic efforts. The affected people are now living under the open sky as they failed to save their belongings.
The fire fighters estimated the loss at Tk. 27 lakh while the affected families put it at Tk one crore.
The second fire incident at Amlarhar village at about 7:39 pm gutted 15 houses.
The fire originated from the earthen oven at Khamiruddin's house and soon spread the adjacent houses.
The house owners claimed that the fire damaged property worth Tk. 5 lakh while the fire fighters estimated the loss at Tk. 1.5 lakh.
The third incident at about 9:45 am at Baradap village gutted 10 houses.
Fire fighters and locals sources said the fire broke out at Entaz Ali's house and damaged property worth Tk 15 lakh.
Our Correspondent in Moulvibazar reports: Six shops were gutted in a devastating fire at MP bazaar of Rajnagar upazila on Tuesday night.
Goods and valuables worth about Tk 2 lakhs were burnt to ashes in the incident fire brigade from Moulvibazar rushed to the spot and downed the fire.
According to fire brigade officials and locals, the fire originated at the commercial building of one Nannu Miah at about 10 pm.
Within few minutes, the fire spread to six shops of the building and gutted them.
