CID seeks remand of 5 JMB men
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday filed a petition with a court, seeking remand of five JMB cadres in connection with a case for bomb attack on Sheikh Helal's election rally in Bagerhat on September 24, 2001.
The JMB cadres now detained in Bagerhat district jail in connection with serial blasts on August 17, 2005 are Md Kalim Molla, Abu Taleb and Hasan Ali Molla of Mollahat upazila of Bagerhat district; Anisuzzaman of Gopalganj district and Hafez Mohammad Rakib Hasan of Jamalpur district.
Judicial Magistrate Md Elias Rahman of Bagerhat has fixed March 11 for hearing on the remand prayer.
The bomb planted earlier at the meeting venue at Khalilur Rahman Degree College ground in Mollahat upazila exploded, claiming nine lives on the spot and injuring 54 others. A case was filed with Mollahat Police Station the same day.
The JMB men would be interrogated as suspects in the case for bomb attack on the election meeting of Sheikh Helaluddin in 2001, CID Inspector Haripada Biswas said.
