Police-robbers gunfight
An hour-long gunfight between police and a gang of robbers took place at Purbo Narayankhola village in Nokla upazila early yesterday. Acting Superintendent of Police (SP) Anisur Rahman said being informed that a gang of robbers numbering 10-12 took shelter at the char village after committing a robbery police raided the place at about 12:30am. Sensing the presence of the police, the robbers opened fire prompting the law enforcers to return the fire triggering the gunfight. At one stage the gang managed to flee the scene. Police later recovered a foreign-made pistol, two guns and 92 bullets from the spot.
