A beauty pageant finale may last only a few hours, but the title awarded at the end carries months of preparation and public responsibility. For Samanzar Sayeed, being crowned Miss World Bangladesh 2026 means entering an international competition where advocacy, communication, and cultural representation matter alongside stage presence.

Samanzar Sayeed was crowned Miss World Bangladesh 2026 on 11 July at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel. Organised by Azra Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC), the official licence holder of Miss World Bangladesh, the event introduced a titleholder who will now carry Bangladesh’s name, culture, and social priorities to an international audience.

Swagata Saha Oishi was named first runner-up, while Labiba Manzur secured the position of second runner-up. They were part of a Top Five that also included Aisha Rahman and Jukta Bhowmik.

Selecting a national representative

The responsibility of choosing the winner went to a panel representing pageantry, media and fashion.

The judges were Shirin Akter Sheela, Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019, actor, model and television host; Rafah Nanjeba Torsa, Miss World Bangladesh 2019, actor, television host and philanthropist; Mehrin Afroze Chowdhury, Editor, Star Lifestyle at The Daily Star; SK Saifur Rahman, consultant at Haal Fashion, Prothom Alo; and Efa Tabassum, Miss International Bangladesh 2024 and model.

Their evaluation reflected the broader expectations associated with contemporary international pageants. A contestant must be able to speak clearly under pressure, demonstrate knowledge of social issues, connect with audiences, and explain the purpose behind her advocacy.

For Samanzar, these qualities will become increasingly important as she moves from the national stage to a month-long international programme involving delegates from around the world.

A new phase for the national franchise

The 2026 competition also marks a new chapter for Miss World Bangladesh under the leadership of Azra Mahmood, National Director of Miss World Bangladesh and founder of AMTC.

The organisation secured the national licence in 2025 and has since sought to develop the competition as a platform for leadership, social engagement, and professional growth.

“This is more than the beginning of a new reign. It is the beginning of a new vision for Miss World Bangladesh,” said Mahmood.

She explained that the franchise intends to move beyond a narrow focus on physical appearance and develop titleholders who can serve as ambassadors, role models, and agents of social change.

Speaking about the newly crowned winner, Mahmood said Samanzar possesses “exceptional potential, grace and purpose,” adding that she was confident Samanzar would represent Bangladesh with distinction.

Samanzar succeeds Aklima Atika Konika, Miss World Bangladesh 2025, who represented the country at the 72nd Miss World Festival.

Preparing for the global stage

Samanzar will represent Bangladesh at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam. The event is scheduled to begin in Hanoi on 9 August 2026 and continue through nearly a month of cultural programmes, charitable activities, and competitive challenges.

The grand final will be held in Nha Trang on 5 September. The edition coincides with the Miss World organisation’s 75th-anniversary celebrations.

Her preparation will therefore extend well beyond wardrobe and presentation. She will have to develop her Beauty With a Purpose initiative, prepare for interviews and challenges, and communicate aspects of Bangladesh’s culture and contemporary identity to an international audience.

The event was supported by Amishee as jewellery partner, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel as hospitality partner, Persona as official makeover partner, AMTC as grooming partner, V Frame as photography partner, and Cine Scripture as visual partner.
