Covid deaths cross 26,000 mark

Eighty-nine more people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,015, and the death rate is 1.74 percent.

At least 3,948 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the number of people infected to 14,93,537, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 14.14 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 16.84 percent.

Around 27,921 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 6,466 patients recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 14,15,697, and the recovery rate is 94.79 percent.

Of the 89 deceased, 41 were men and 48 women. Three were between 21 and 30; five between 31 and 40; 15 between 41 and 50; 16 between 51 and 60, and 50 were above 60 years old, added the release.
