Covid-19 spike: 9 die in 24 hours, positivity rate 13.78%

Nine people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country is currently 29,212 and the death rate stands at 1.47 percent.

At least 656 new Covid-19 cases were recorded during this period.

The current positivity rate is 13.78 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.77 percent.

With the new infections, the total number of cases rose to 19,91,031 added the release.

A total of 4,761 samples were tested across the country during this period.

At least 1,542 patients have recovered from Covid-19 within this time. The total number of recoveries now stands at 19,15,860 and the recovery rate at 96.22 percent, said the release.

Of the nine deceased, four were male and five were female. They are between 31-90 years old, added the release.
