7 Covid-19 deaths, 253 new infections recorded in 24 hours

Seven people died of Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,946, and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.

A total of 18,124 samples were tested across the country and at least 253 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of infected to 15,73,711, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.40 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 14.72 percent.

At least 298 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,37,816 and the recovery rate is 97.72 percent. 

Of the seven deceased, three were men and four were women.

Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, two within 41-50, one between 51-60, one within 61-70, one between 71-80, and one was within 81-90 years old, added the release.
