6 Covid-19 deaths, 277 new cases in 24 hours

Six people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 28,016 and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.

At least 277 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,78,288, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.35 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.29 percent.

A total of 20,549 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 am today).

At least 296 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,43,204 and the recovery rate at 97.78 percent.

Of the six deceased, four were male and two were female. Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, one was within 61-70, two were between 71-80, and two were within 81-90 years old, added the release.
