5 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours, positivity rate now 1.39%

Five people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8 am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 27,828, and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 289 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,67,981, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.39 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.31 percent.

A total of 20,773 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 413 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,31,740, and the recovery rate at 97.69 percent.

Among the five deceased, two were men and three women. Of them two were within 51-60; and three within 61-70 years old, added the release.
