2 Covid-19 deaths, 235 new infections recorded in 24 hours

Two people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 27,906 and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.

At least 235 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,71,669, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.31 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.93 percent.

A total of 17,987 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 271 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,35,661 and the recovery rate at 97.71 percent.

Of the two deceased, one was men and one was women. Both were between 71-80 years old, added the release.
