Pritom–Mehazabien pair up for Chorki series ‘Cactus’

OTT platform Chorki is set to release its new original series “Cactus” this Eid-ul-Fitr. The shooting of the series has recently wrapped, and its teaser was unveiled today, sparking curiosity and discussion among viewers.


The series features popular musician and actor Pritom Hasan alongside actor Mehazabien Chowdhury in the lead roles. It is directed by filmmaker Shihab Shaheen.


Following the teaser’s release, viewers shared enthusiastic responses online, praising both the platform’s content and the lead actors’ performances.


In “Cactus”, Pritom Hasan portrays a skilled hacker named Manasiv. The teaser also shows him as a prisoner who, despite being behind bars, must return to hacking under special circumstances. With government support, his expertise becomes crucial in addressing a national crisis.


Pritom Hasan said the character undergoes several transformations throughout the story. “I would rather not reveal too much, but the character has a journey. I hope the audience will join me in that journey,” he said.


Mehazabien Chowdhury plays Anura, a character who encounters Manasiv during the mission. The teaser presents her in a new avatar, featuring action sequences and a more intense screen presence.


Describing the role as particularly engaging, Mehazabien said the series gave her the opportunity to learn new skills, especially action. “I had never performed action at this level before,” she said, praising action director Edward Gomez and his team.


Director Shihab Shaheen said the series blends technology, thriller and action elements to offer a distinctive viewing experience. He added that the story revolves around Manasiv, while the character of Anura introduces a new dynamic to the narrative.


The story of “Cactus” was written by Shihab Shaheen, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhor, Ador Rahman, Asaduzzaman Abir and Rezwan Kabir, with Shaheen also serving as screenwriter. The cast also includes Munira Yusuf Memi, Manas Bandyopadhyay, Naziba Basher, Salauddin Lavlu, Shahadat Hossain, Arifin Jilani, Zahidul Haque Apu and Sanzida Tasnim. Edward Gomez served as the action director.
