Netflix has released the first teaser for its upcoming adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice”, offering audiences a glimpse of Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy.

The six-episode series, set to premiere this autumn, has been adapted for television by author Dolly Alderton. According to Netflix, the new version aims to honour Jane Austen’s original novel while introducing the timeless romance to a new generation of viewers.

The brief teaser features cinematic visuals, including Corrin’s Elizabeth standing atop a rooftop at sunset and reacting shyly to the sound of approaching horses. The clip then introduces Lowden’s Mr Darcy, arriving on horseback in a dramatic entrance.

The series is directed by Euros Lyn, known for his work on “Heartstopper”. Alongside Corrin and Lowden, the cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley and Louis Partridge as Mr Wickham. Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery also feature in key roles.

Executive producers include Laura Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, with Alderton, Lyn and Corrin also serving in production capacities. Lisa Osborne is attached as producer.

When the cast was first announced, Alderton described the opportunity to reimagine Austen’s classic as a rare privilege. She called “Pride and Prejudice” the “blueprint for romantic comedy” and expressed excitement about presenting both familiar and fresh interpretations of the beloved characters.

The series joins a long line of adaptations of Austen’s 1813 novel, one of the most celebrated works of English literature.
