The trailer of “Domm”, starring Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury and Puja Chery, has been released, further heightening audience anticipation following its poster and teaser. However, just two days ahead of its release, the producers have announced that the film will not be released in single-screen theatres initially due to piracy concerns.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (March 17) at a press conference held in the capital after the trailer launch by one of the film’s producers, Shahriar Shakil.

“We have been working on this film for the past two and a half years. It is a family-oriented film, and audiences have already begun to understand that from the trailer. I believe this is something new for viewers,” he said.

Addressing piracy concerns, Shakil added, “All our previous films were released in both multiplexes and single screens. However, our last film ‘Taandob’ was pirated on its sixth day of release, causing significant losses. ‘Domm’ is our sixth film, and it has a high budget. If it falls victim to piracy, we will face major losses. That is why the film will be released only in multiplexes during Eid. We plan to release it in single screens after two to three weeks.”

Afran Nisho and Puja Chery, along with director Redoan Rony and other members of the cast and crew, were present at the event.

Speaking about the film, Afran Nisho said, “Whenever I talk about ‘Domm’, I become emotional. We worked extensively on the story to make it as strong as possible. The level of effort everyone has put into this film is immense. Audiences will not be disappointed. I have not done a story or character like this before. I want to contribute more story-driven work to the industry.”

Puja Chery said, “You will be compelled to say that this is a powerful film. Nisho bhai, who plays my husband in the film, was extremely supportive. He not only created a joyful atmosphere on set but also helped us grow as performers.”

Director Redoan Rony said, “The strength of ‘Domm’ will be understood once audiences watch the film. The story was inspired by something that deeply moved me during an Eid holiday. It portrays the mental strength of an individual. Everyone, including Nisho and Chanchal bhai, has worked incredibly hard. I believe the film has the potential to compete in the international market.”

Jointly produced by SVF (Kolkata), Chorki and Alpha-i, the film also features Abul Hayat, Dolly Zahur and Zahid Hasan in key roles. The screenplay has been written by Redoan Rony, Rabiyul Alam Robi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhor and Md Saifullah Riyad.
