“This Eid, I’ll be away, but the work keeps me close to the audience,” shared Khairul Basar in conversation with The Daily Star. With a bunch of projects to be aired on the festival, the actor is set to go to Australia for shooting, where he will celebrate Eid.

Where are you spending Eid this time?

I’ll be in Australia as I’m starting work there from the 25th, so I had to leave a bit early.

What projects can audiences look forward to this time?

There are quite a few coming out this Eid. “Bheja Chokh”, “Dear Family”, and “Jolkouri”, and “Agle Rekho Amay” are among the ones I’m particularly excited about. Altogether, there should be around eight to ten projects airing across different television channels.

Do you have any personal favourites among them?

The ones I just mentioned are definitely close to my heart. There’s also “Motshokonnya” with Safa Kabir. That shoot was quite an experience—we literally jumped into the sea, and some underwater sequences were filmed in a swimming pool. It was physically demanding but very enjoyable.

Tell us about your other works.

There are projects featuring Payel and Totini as well. In “Dear Family”, I worked with Sunerah Binte Kamal, which was a great experience. We also have an ongoing television series “Eta Amaderi Golpo”, with 52 episodes, and I’m genuinely happy with the response it has received. The audience has embraced it in a way I didn’t quite expect. Because of that role, I’ve somehow become the ‘youngest son’ in millions of households.

That sounds like quite a connection with viewers. Any memorable fan moments?

The most heartwarming part is that even children recognise me now. Families watch the show together, and kids get really excited when they see me. Often, their parents bring them over and insist they take a photo with ‘Samir’ (character name). Moments like these make everything feel worthwhile.

Will there be anything special from the series this Eid?

Yes, we’re planning a longer episode for Eid, and possibly another special for the next Eid. It’s not exactly a second season, but more like a special standalone drama featuring the same beloved family.

What can you tell us about your work in Australia?

I’ll be collaborating with Rubel Hasan on two projects. We’re still finalising the scripts, but from what we’ve discussed so far, one will be a romantic comedy and the other a love story. My co-star in both projects is Totini. We’ll also be working with a cinematographer based there, which should bring a fresh visual flavour to the projects.

Final thoughts on this Eid?

Of course, being away from family is never easy, especially during Eid. But at the same time, I feel grateful to be working and creating stories for the audience. In a way, that connection keeps me close to home.
