Afran Nisho-starrer ‘Domm’ set for international premiere
Bangladeshi film “Domm”, starring Afran Nisho, Puja Chery and Chanchal Chowdhury, continues to dominate cineplexes and multiplexes across the country since its release. The film, based on a true story, has been drawing massive crowds, with nearly all screenings running houseful at the highest show count. Screenings are increasing steadily with growing audience demand.
Amid this success, “Domm” is set to begin its international journey as the first Eid film to screen abroad. The film will be shown in Australia from March 27 to March 29. Producer Shahriar Shakil confirmed the news.
In Sydney, the film will screen at Bankstown Hall on March 27 at 9:15 pm Bangladesh time. The following day, it will be shown in Prospect at 5 pm. The final screening will take place at Werribee Hall on March 29 at 6 pm.
Producer Shahriar Shakil expressed his delight. “From the very beginning, audience enthusiasm for ‘Domm’ has been overwhelming,” he said. “In the last four days, I have not seen a single negative review. Interest in the film keeps growing. At such a moment, ‘Domm’ is releasing internationally as the first Eid film — this is very joyful news for us.”
Among the five films released this Eid ul-Fitr, “Domm” is leading both in popularity and earnings. The film set a new record by collecting over one crore taka in gross revenue from multiplexes within just three days of its release.
Visits to cinema halls suggest that audiences this Eid are drawn more to family-oriented, story-driven films rather than action-heavy ones. This trend has placed “Domm”, directed by Redoan Rony, at the top of the popularity charts. At Star Cineplex and Lion Cinemas combined, 27 out of 35 screenings were houseful — creating a wave of excitement among Nisho’s fanbase.
Produced by SVF Alpha-I Entertainment Limited and Chorki, “Domm” had been generating curiosity since its announcement. The screenplay was written by Redoan Rony, Robiul Alam Robi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhar, and Md Saifullah Riad.
