Actress and artist Bipasha Hayat celebrates birthday today
Bipasha Hayat is a beloved actress celebrated by audiences far and wide. Art is her dwelling place and her love resides within it. Beyond acting, she is a playwright and a painter. She is the eldest daughter of the veteran actor Abul Hayat.
Today, March 23, is her birthday. She was born on March 23, 1971.
In the 1990s, she made her entrance on the small screen with a brilliance that rivalled the stars. For many years, she remained a prominent presence in television drama. She earned widespread audience affection through her performances in weekly plays and serial dramas on BTV, rising to the very peak of stardom.
Through the sheer power of her acting, she won the hearts of millions. Her performances draw praise from viewers of all ages. Alongside television, she was also a regular presence on the Dhaka stage for a considerable period. Nagorik Natya Sampradaya is her theatre troupe, and her performances with this group on the Dhaka stage earned her resounding acclaim.
She began her acting career with the play “Khola Duar”. Since then, she has appeared in countless productions. Her performance in the hugely popular BTV drama “Oyomoy” is still praised by many viewers to this day. The role brought her immense fame and her portrayal of the character Labanga in that drama remains unforgettable. She also won audience affection through the drama “Rupnagar”, and a great many other quality productions have been added to her career over the years.
Her own written plays have also made a strong impression. She has authored several dramas, including “Shuktara” and “Shankhobas”.
In Humayun Ahmed’s widely acclaimed Liberation War film “Aguner Poroshmoni”, her performance moved audiences across all walks of life. For this role, she received the National Film Award. Her portrayal of the character Ratri in the film has left a lasting mark on many hearts. She also received a tremendous response for her acting in “Joyjatra”, a Liberation War film directed by her husband Tauquir Ahmed.
She has also earned praise as a television presenter. Her show “Bipashar Otithi” was immensely popular with viewers. In the 1990s, her work as a model also made waves.
Bipasha Hayat studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Even when away from acting, her painting has never stopped. Exhibitions of her artwork have been held both at home and abroad, and in this field too she has maintained her success. At present, her devotion is centred entirely on her art.
For several years now, she has been living in the United States, where she continues her work as an artist. A few years ago, she returned to Bangladesh and held an art exhibition before heading back. This pursuit continues abroad as well. Bipasha Hayat, a person of art at heart, spends her days immersed in art.
Her father is the distinguished actor Abul Hayat, a recipient of the Ekushey Padak. Her mother is Shirin Hayat. Her husband is actor and filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed. Her younger sister is Natasha Hayat.
