AvoidRafa staged its first full-fledged solo concert, “Eto Boka Keno Tumi”, at InterContinental Dhaka on October 2, marking the release of the band’s album of the same name.

The concert also brought together the historic Aushomapto-era lineup of Aurthohin after more than a decade. Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon, Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal, Shishir Ahmed and Raef Al Hasan Rafa performed together on stage again as part of the show.

The reunion was a special segment of Rafa’s first solo concert and became one of the evening’s major highlights. The four musicians performed several songs associated with the Aushomapto era, including “Aushomapto”, “Anmone”, “Odbhut Shei Cheleti”, “Nikkrishto”, “Guti (The Finale)”, “Shurjo”, “Cancer” and “Chaite Paro 2”.

According to reports, the reunion performance lasted more than an hour, with the audience singing along to several songs. The response was particularly strong during “Nikkrishto”, one of the most recognisable songs from the era.

Rafa said he had wanted to bring the four musicians together on stage again for a long time.

“I had been carrying the idea of doing a show like this for a long time. I also wanted the four of us to stand on the same stage again someday. At some point, I realised that time would not wait for us, so I decided to make it happen,” he said.

Rafa said the reunion was also an opportunity to introduce the music of the Aushomapto era to a younger generation.

“We wanted to bring those songs back in front of a new generation of listeners. We wanted them to experience the songs themselves rather than only hear stories about that era,” he shared.

Rafa said the musical connection between the four musicians returned quickly when they began playing together again, despite the long gap.

Shishir Ahmed said returning to the stage with the old Aushomapto lineup was an emotional experience.

“Standing on stage again with the old Aushomapto lineup was incredibly emotional. After so many years, I never really imagined that the four of us would be on the same stage again. And when I saw the audience responding to those songs with the same emotion, it made the experience even more special,” he said.

Shishir said the reunion showed how deeply the songs remained connected to the audience even after so many years.

Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal said the reunion gave the four musicians an opportunity to rediscover the musical connection they shared during the Aushomapto period.

Bassbaba Sumon said the reunion was a celebration of the musical bond shared by the four musicians.

The concert also featured performances by several special guests. Pritom Hasan joined Rafa for “Cholo Arekbar Uri”, while Rafa’s elder brother Sadi Muqtafi joined him for “Ami Akash Pathabo”.

The main focus of the concert, however, remained AvoidRafa’s music and the presentation of “Eto Boka Keno Tumi”. The show brought together different chapters of Rafa’s musical career, from his early years with Aurthohin and Cryptic Fate to his current work with AvoidRafa.

The Aushomapto reunion therefore connected Rafa’s present musical journey with an important chapter of his past, while the concert remained centred on his first solo show and AvoidRafa’s latest album

After the reunion, Rafa said, “We are already back to the future. We are here.
