Verdict on 8 Jamalpur ‘Al-Badr men’ any day
A tribunal in Dhaka will deliver verdict any day in a case filed against eight Jamalpur "Al-Badr men" for their offences during the country's Liberation War in 1971.
They are facing five charges including murder, abduction, torture, confinement and arson committed between April 22 and December 11 that year, according to the prosecution.
The three-member panel of International Crimes Ttribunal-1 led by Justice Anwarul Haque today kept the case waiting for verdict after both the prosecution and defence counsels completed their closing arguments.
Among the accused, SM Yousuf Ali and Shamsul Haque, now in jail, were produced before the court while six others -- Ashraf Hossain, Prof Sharif Ahammed, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Bari, Harun and Abul Hashem -- are absconding.
