Two killed in land feud

Two people, including a housewife, were killed in a clash between the family members of two siblings over a disputed land in Nagarpur upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased are Hazrat Ali, 60, son of Abdul Karim and Saju Begum, 35, wife of Solaiman Ali of Khashshahjani village.           

Police said there had been a longstanding feud between two brothers Hazrat Ali and Solaiman Ali over the ownership of a disputed land.

At one stage of altercation, Hazrat hit Solaiman's wife Saju with a stick, leaving her dead on the spot. 

Being enraged by the killing of his wife, Solaiman beat up his elder brother Hazrat mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

Romesh Ali, 35, and Ibrahim Mia, 58, were held in this connection and produced before a court yesterday that sent them to  jail.
