Trawler service for critical patients

Local administration has introduced a 24-hour water transport service for critical patients who have to face many hurdles to cross the Sugandha river to reach Babuganj Upazila Health Complex in Barisal.

Babuganj upazila introduced the service from the first week of this month.

As the 50-bed hospital is situated in Dehergathi union far away from upazila headquarters, many patients from remote areas suffered a lot to cross the river to reach the health complex as there was no water transport available there, especially at night.   

"Considering the issue, we decided to launch a 24-hour trawler service for patients on emergency basis," said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Dipak Kumar Roy.
