Shujan calls for national unity against militancy

Civil society platform Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) today called for a national unity against the threat of militancy in the country.

"The attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia, among the militant attacks and deaths across the country, have pushed Bangladesh into a new chapter of militancy," the group said in a statement.

"The expansion of this radicalism and militancy is not an isolated incident rather it is politically motivated, well planned and long prepared. Its root is too deep today. The struggle for the recovery of this must be all-out and long-term," it reads.

The strong unity among all non-communalism and democratic forces beyond partisanship is a must to fight the militancy, the statement says.

The statement was signed by the organisation's president M Hafizuddin Khan and secretary Badiul Alam Majumder.
