Seven-year-old girl raped in Noakhali

A seven-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a neighbour at Jirtoli village in Begumganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.

Victim's father said Sabuj, 23, followed his daughter while she was going to a shop near her house to buy chocolate. He forcibly took her to a nearby betel garden and violated her there, added the father.

After reaching home the girl informed her parents about the incident and fell sick, the father said. He said he took her to Begumganj Police Station, where police suggested admitting his daughter to Noakhali General Hospital.

Dr Farzana Omi of gynaecology department said the girl was given primary treatment. They would know about the condition of the girl after getting different test report, Dr Farzana added.

Officer-in-Charge Sajidur Rahman Sajid of Begumganj Police Station said a case has been filed in this regard and police are investigating the matter.
