Police constable arrested for raping child in Khagrachhari

A police constable has been arrested on charge of raping a child from Chakma community in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari.

The arrestee, Nazmul Hasan, a constable of Ataltila police camp, raped the 12-year-old on Monday evening, according to the case statement filed over the incident.

Locals rescued the Chakma girl, a student of class-VI, and also caught Nazmul from the scene of the crime.

Later, they handed Nazmul to the police camp, the case statement read.

Later, the victim's father filed the case with Dighinala Police Station last night.

Md Mehedy Hasan, assistant superintendent of police (circle) in Khagrachhari, said the police constable was sent to jail by a court today.
