Missing auto-rickshaw driver, housewife found dead
The bodies of a missing auto-rickshaw driver and a housewife were recovered from Thakurgaon and Sunamganj districts on Sunday and the day before.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reported that police recovered the body of a housewife from Proyagpur village in Ranishankoil upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased is Bashanti Rani, 30, wife of Fagu Barman of the village.
Bashanti went out of her house around 10:00am on Friday and remained missing since then, said Sukumar Mohanta, officer-in-charge of Ranishankoil Police Station.
Locals spotted her body lying at a maize field of the village around 5:00pm and informed the police, the OC added.
Police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Away in Sunamganj, the body of an auto-rickshaw driver was recovered from Mahasingh River in Dakkhin Sunamganj upazila on Saturday night, six days after he went missing.
The deceased, Iqbal Hossain, 23, son of Salek Mia, was a resident of Rupia village in Balaganj upazila of Sylhet.
Quoting victim's family members, police said Iqbal went out of his house around 10:00pm on May 18 and did not return home.
Locals found his body floating in the river around 7:00pm and informed the police, said Al-Amin, officer-in-charge of Dakkhin Sunamganj Police Station.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
