Minor boy killed in boiler blast

A five-year-old boy was killed in a boiler blast at a rice mill in Gangapara village under Islampur upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Apon, son of Saidur Rahman of the village.

Police, quoting locals, said Apon along with other boys was playing in front of the rice mill, which belongs to one Sultan of the village, at around 9:00am.

At that time, the boiler exploded with a big bang and its broken parts hit the boy, leaving him dead on the spot, said Deen-e-Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Islampur Police Station.
